Ok, so since I feel that there has been a lot about Avery's very public tantrums lately I thought I would put some pictures up to prove that she absolutely has her sweet moments:) These actually both occurred this weekend and we were able to go to the grocery store, Babies R Us, and a quick lunch at Wendy's without Avery throwing a tantrum!
On a side note:
It has been so nice getting such great advice from everyone and stories of similar experiences. It really gives me a sigh of relief as a mom. This blog has been such a wonderful way of sharing Avery and our family with with friends and loved ones that don't get to see us on a daily basis (thanks Megs for introducing me to this wonderful world!)-even if many of them don't really understand blogs or know how to post comments! It has been such a great way to also reconnect with people and see how everyone has changed and families have grown. I often feel that Avery has friends in all of the kids we check on, even though we don't get to see them (and have never met some!). Avery usually checks blogs with me and absolutely loves looking at everyone's pictures. Speaking of the great advice I always get...any great tips on switching from crib to bed? Avery will be heading to one in a few months and we want to take the time we have before Spencer gets here to slowly transition her. I'm of course nervous she's going to fall out, she's all over the place in her crib. Is there an opinion on whether you get the toddler bed or go straight for the twin??
Just a quick update on Avery's 15th month check up. She weighs in now at a whopping 20 lbs. 15 oz. and is 31 in. long. She's currently in a junk food phase where all she wants are pringles, fries, chicken nuggests, cheetos, etc. (the one healthy exception, she freakin' loves lettuce-just plain old iceberg lettuce!) so she'll probably really be packing on the pounds soon if we can't control this! She also had three shots this visit-which I really hate. Since I'm not a medical professional I always second guess myself about letting her get vaccinated because of all the hype out there. I just want her to be healthy and protected. Whew, I guess that's it...
This is a very rare occurrence. Avery actually fell asleep on the short car ride home from the grocery store. She didn't cry in the car or anything. It was pure bliss! (by the way, we were in the garage, safely parked while Artie was about to get her out and I snapped the pic...didn't want to give you the impression that we just drive around without her being properly buckled in!)

We love watching your family grow up!
When it was time to transition Luke to the big boy bed- we did it before Drew was born as well. We ended up getting bunk beds for the boys- but they become two twin beds. The nice thing was the rails that came with them.
The first night Luke was in a bed- we had a huge long railing for the bed (which normally is used on the top bunk), and we only put a fitted sheet down. No comforter, no pillow etc. It worked! To Luke it was just a big crib and he really didn't notice the difference, and wasn't freaked out by the change. After a couple of days we added a pillow, then a week later added the comforter. The first month was bliss- Luke would call out to help us get him out of bed... that didn't last- but he overall has done well. The twin bed worked for us- and I know there are really cute twin platform beds out there that some of our friends here have.
Good luck!!!:)
We transitioned Josie because she was climbing out of her crib into her sister's but she totally wasn't ready for it so we put her back in her crib and moved the cribs farther apart. I have no advice. We have convertible cribs so we plan on using a toddler bed for a while. I wouldn't recommend the toddler beds if you think Avery is going to be tall because you will run out of room pretty quickly. Good luck with the transition! The picture of Avery snuggled on you is precious. I wish my girls were that cuddly.
Love the pictures- she looks so cuddly- Dylan's not like that- maybe a little bit later- although I have a feeling he is going to be one energetic little boy- aka- not time to slow down and be cuddly...
Sorry- no advice as yet on the bed thing... I will probably be asking you one day down the road though! Good luck!
I also love how blogs have reconnected so many of us and allowed us to keep in touch over the miles!
Thanks so much-I knew I could count on some good advice/experiences! I don't know why I'm so nervous for her to go to a bed. I think it's because she will have more control of when she gets up! I do agree and think that a twin bed is probably the way to go...it's a lot easier to find bedding for!
Sooooooo cute! I know, I always feel bad telling Matt or whoever if Elizabeth had a cranky day, because then she ends up being adorable and I feel guilty for complaining about her! lol.
Not sure what to do about the big girl bed- we are having so many changes in the next 6 months or so with the move and stuff that I want to transition her beforehand, but I am working on potty training right now and don't want to do too many "new" things at once.
I am happy to let her be in a crib for as long as she wants provided she doesn't start climbing out of it! When we do have another baby, he or she will be in the Pack and Play in our room for the first few months, so I'd probably transition Elizabeth around then....at least that's the "plan" for now I guess.
Also, I totally agree about how wonderful it is to see all of our kids grow up "together"- I truly feel like our friendships are stronger from these blogs and our daily support from one another- even if we can't see each other all the time! Miss you and good luck!
Love,
C:)
