A miracle

Just wanted to give a quick update on my grandpa-Avery's great grandpa-since I have gotten a lot of thoughts and well wishes for him to get better.  The news was very bleak a week ago. When we went to visit him, he couldn't talk or make eye contact, it was heart breaking.  Then, he got moved to a nursing home to be comfortable and hope was pretty much given up on him by his doctors.  Well, I'm pleased to say that my grandpa is well on his way to recovery!!  Turns out, he has been diabetic for years...yes, years.  None of the hospitals he has been to in the past with all of his infections, black outs, seizures and lack of blood flow had tested him or diagnosed it.  He got to the nursing home and one of the first things they did was take his blood sugar-off the charts!  He has been getting insulin injections and will be taken off oxygen tomorrow (the doctors at the hospital said he would never be off oxygen again)!  It is hard to think that something like this could have been caught years ago.  We are absolutely grateful that my grandpa didn't die from this, having it undiagnosed.  It's amazing to think that he spent two weeks in ICU, was virtually on the verge of a coma and now he's almost his old self with a simple diagnosis.  Thank goodness for miracles!

My grandpa with Avery when she was just a wee little thing!

Wow, that is crazy to think it went that long without being diagnosed. Hope he continues to get better and that you all have a great holiday season:)

I agree with Christine- WOW. After all the blood tests etc, you would think that would stand out.
I am glad to hear that he is doing well now though, and can meet your future member of the family!:)
